The British Egg Information Service estimates a double yolk to happen once in every 1,000 eggs, and a triple yolk to happen once in every in 25 million eggs. There are no official odds for four yolks.
Steinbergâs quadruple-yolker was found in a normal carton of large eggs from Dakota Layers, an egg farm in Flandreau. She had bought a few dozen from the County Fair Food Store in Mitchell as she and a few others from her church had planned to make and deliver Christmas cookies to some of their more elderly members.
