Heavy monsoon rains are causing mudslides across the region. The popular Alpine Loop between the towns of Silverton, Lake City, and Ouray was partially closed for two days earlier this week because of slides.
Twenty people were stranded overnight while Hinsdale County crews cleared the road. Other slides closed a state highway.
