At its monthly meeting, the Belfield City Council deliberated on re-establishing a chamber of commerce, moving City Hall to a more convenient location and zoning regulations on garages.
Several items were discussed earlier this week during the Belfield City Council monthly meeting which included a sewage project, city employee wages and alcohol sales at the Superpumper gas station.
Two of Belfield's sewage lift stations were built in the 1950s and 60s, and one is now in dire need of $1 million worth of renovations. The city argued that continuing to put it off could result in basements full of raw sewage.
The hot topic item ETZ expansion that has been spurring much discussion within Stark County and the City of Dickinson drew in a crowded room Wednesday at City Hall as the city and county hosted a joint zoning transitional meeting to consider the Stark County zoned parcels to be transitioned into City of Dickinson zoning districts that take into consideration the surrounding area and existing uses per State of North Dakota Code. The city and county concluded to create a committee to oversee the zoning of this 2-mile expansion.
