Community radio stations like KZSM.org operate differently from commercial radio, which covers expenses by selling advertising you won’t hear anyone ordering you to buy a used car or a lifetime supply of cat litter. The San Marcos Art League has begun its 2021 Art Squared Market season, and during the months of April (10), July (10) and October (9), they will be hosting an art supply swap for local artists of all kinds. SMAL is encouraging all artists to come to the Hays County Courthouse lawn (111 E. San Antonio St.) from 10am-1pm with their gently used art supplies and trade them out

The San Marcos Art League hosted a graphic design contest throughout the beginning months of 2021, and the deadline for entries closed on March 1. Now is the time where the Art League asks San Marcos community members to vote on their favorite design, where the winner will have their design showcased on the 2021 Art Squared tote bags as well as a $100 cash prize. Second and third runner-up designs will receive a $75 cash prize and a $50 cash prize.
