John stewart, but what i want to do is acknowledge all of the people here in the audience who have helped us get here today. [applause] we have bruce cantor whos a member of the northeast Waterfront Advisory Group. [applause] and we have bob carrier whos a member of the Barbary Coast neighborhood association. So thank you for coming. [applause] this group thats sitting here today sort of does represent a neighborhood inside of a village, the village of San Francisco. And two neighborhood associations, a Waterfront Advisory Group, and partners with the city, with the Mayors Office of housing and jayesco have really mad
About it and i think as a whole, as a community, as any community, if people just put a little effort, we could really help each other out. Thats how it should be. Thats what food is about basically. An organization that meets is the San Francisco knight ministry we work with tuesday and thursdays. By the power of your name i have faith to move mountains because i believe in jesus. I believe its helpful to offer food to people because as you know, theres so much homelessness in San Francisco and california and the United States. I really believe that food is important as well as our faith. The San Francisco knight ministry has been around for 54 years. The core of the ministry, a group of ordain ministers, we go out in the middle of the night every single night of the year, so for 54 years we have never missed a night. I know its difficult to believe maybe in the United States but a lot of our people will say this is the first meal theyve had in two days. I really believe it is a time
Whether youre a senior, whether youre someone who lives in Public Housing, whether you just simply cant make it because of the salary that youre living on, well, i think weve done it. Weve done it. Its a start. Is this going to answer every question . Probably not, but this is going to be a big, big achievement for San Francisco for us to put 600 million for Affordable Housing for our residents. [applause] president yee ill tell you this right now. I wont outline what mayor breed what she had already outlined. It was a battle. We had to fight, we had to claw, we had to prove our point. This came from labor, it came from everybody. Even the middleincome folks to came in and say we need help also, we hear you. We will put something in there for the middleincome, as well as lowincome. I am so proud of the process that we that we took to get to where we are today. Today is going to be a historical vote where the board of supervisors will vote on this bond measure, this measure for housing
At the Community Theater with things going well on stage, one mom decided to step out with her crying baby just as the temblor hit. The parking lot started to move and cars going up and down. I had to brace myself to stand upright holding the baby. Today Holly Goodman got a chance to see the damage the quake caused. Marshals was having its building stability checked. Big lots found a lot of merchandise on the floor. All signs of the fear and chaos that comes with a quake. In terms of human reaction, nothing compared to the sudden end to that holiday musical. Hollys children were in the play and audience. Like the sort of thing that you hear about happening everywhere else and then it finally happens to you and its just crazy. Little bits of the ceiling were falling down. I found some in my hair. Reporter todays after shocks. Theyre worse because now weve experienced an earthquake and we just keep whats going to happen next. Well, thats what many are asking including at the theater and
Again, this will expire in less than four months. Before then, if this board a proves an ongoing permit program and staff expects to bring you something before october 15th, to improve the program birdscoot would have to apply just like anybody else for a new permit. So this current permit will end in october. We are, as we told you when we brought the mid point evaluation, using all of what were learning as an ongoing program. So just wanted to give you a little back story on that. Another one you may have heard of but just wanted to give you an update on, that theres a lot to say is being called faster bay area. Formally known as mega measure. Its an effort to advance a revenue measure on the order of 100 billion to a ballot across the region as early as november of 2020. It is an effort thats being led by some of the Large Employers in the region along with Large Employer organizations such as the bay area council, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and spur. Their intent is to thi
