(Courtesy) Print An ongoing discussion about Puesto La Jolla’s recent application to extend its use of parking spaces on Wall Street for outdoor dining for up to five years was taken up by the La Jolla Traffic & Transportation Board, which ultimately decided to continue the discussion next month pending further details. The restaurant’s plan would keep Puesto’s current pedestrian plaza also called a parklet, or structure built over the parking spaces “with some modifications pending,” including a ramp to ensure the plaza complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Puesto’s director of construction, Nick Sandvig, said at the April 21 T&T meeting.

Proposed Puesto plaza gets La Jolla merchants group's support; others are uneasy

Bring on the buskers: La Jolla merchants group looks to bring street musicians to The Village

Print Live music is allowed to return to The Village’s indoor venues with relaxed coronavirus restrictions in San Diego County, but it might also be returning to the streets. The La Jolla Village Merchants Association is looking to match musicians with retailers that want them in front of their stores. LJVMA previously brought musicians to The Village through its Enjoya La Jolla community outings, featuring entertainment, shopping deals and demos, refreshments, prizes, contests and more. Though Enjoya La Jolla is not back in its full capacity, LJVMA Executive Director Jodi Rudick said the outdoor musical element could return. She said the board spent $1,500 to $2,000 a month on music for Enjoya La Jolla.

La Jolla Town Council seeks 'another look' from community planners on Windansea belvedere project

After multiple local hearings over several months, plans for a controversial belvedere shade structure at Windansea Beach got support from the La Jolla Community Planning Association on April 1. Town Council president emeritus Ann Kerr Bache said “there’s enough concern that’s been presented to us to take another look.” But LJCPA President Diane Kane, who did not attend the Town Council meeting, told the La Jolla Light on April 9 that “this project was acted on last week; we have already sent our comments into the city, and we’re done with it.” The Town Council and LJCPA are “totally separate organizations” and the Town Council has no influence on LJCPA action, Kane said.
