Roadways this morning. They just cleared a crash that westbound 580. The bad news is were seeing some residual slowing. Of course east of there weve got the usual slow and go conditions as you head out of tracy into the liver more valley area. So the delays between mount house and grant line are in full effect. The homeless mothers who took over a vacant house on magnolia street are currently being evicted by the Alameda County Sheriffs Department. They wanted to draw attention to the homeless crisis thats happening around the bay area. They took over that house and have been living there since november. Those women went to court asking a judge to be allowed to stay but on friday the judge ordered the women to be evicted within 5 days. The Sheriffs Department there right now with deputies. We just saw some of them in handcuffs.
They object to her based on her background on the Police Commission and say the appointment is unfair. There are people running to become the district attorney. One of them is that women. By appointing her they are giving her the privilege to get elected over the other ones. Reporter one protester did manage to make it inside. The mayor defending her move to put loftus in place saying the office is too important to leave vacant. I dont want to leave the District Attorneys Office unattended. So that is really why we need to make sure that we have somebody who understands the office and knows what to do from day one and that is suzy. Reporter other candidates are speaking out saying the move could backfire. I dont think it will give an unfair advantage. I think the backlash will be swift and sizable. The father of one of the men killed makes an emotional plea. The shooting happened yesterday, two men were killed and another injured. They were sitting in a car when the gunman either walked up or drove by and opened fire. Reporter family members tell me they hope the video will hopefully solve this crime. Its a clue that may lead to more witnesses. Multiple gunshots can be heard on this surveillance video. A dark Ford Explorer is seen dripping off in richmond thursday afternoon.
