Watsonville's Strawberry Festival or Festival de la Fresa was off to an excellent start Saturday with hundreds meandering through the streets around Watsonville Plaza with the smells of unique strawberry cuisine such as strawberry pizza and tacos permeating the air. The festival, which has been growing back bigger and better since taking a break during the pandemic, was attended by locals and visitors both near and far.
All year round, Watsonville is known for its bounty of strawberries, but there are only a few days of the year that the sweet red fruits are front and center, and they happen to be this weekend.
