There’s always the opportunity for any team to win any game on any day. That’s the nature of sports, right?
At least up to this point in the season, though, it seems as if there are three juggernauts in Division I women’s lacrosse with everyone else playing catch-up.

Sadie Grozier had a game-high four goals as Colorado picked up its first win of the season, beating Denver 14-7 on Sunday.
After dropping games to Louisville and Vanderbilt to open the season, Colorado got back on track, upsetting state rival and No. 11 Denver 14-7 on Sunday afternoon.
The Buffs led from start to finish, but it was just a one-goal lead at 8-7 with 10 minutes to play before Colorado ripped off six straight goals to close the game. Zoe Lawless scored all three of her goals during the game-closing run, including this emphatic score.

3. The Ivy League s official cancellation of its regular season and championship makes room for other teams to make their mark in 2021. When the 2020 season concluded, three Ivy League teams were ranked in the ILWomen Media Poll; two in the top ten ranks. Already, we re seeing teams the likes of Hofstra, Rutgers, Louisville and Vanderbilt all creeping into national polls right now.
Breaking down some of the top matchups:
Ohio State 15, Michigan 12
One of the biggest rivalries in college sports did not disappoint this weekend. After last weekend’s loss to Northwestern, Ohio State came back with vengeance in a statement upset win against No. 9 Michigan.
Using a balanced game strategy, Virginia managed to defeat East Carolina 21-6 in its first game of the season. This was the first time since 2019 that the Cavaliers scored 20 or more goals in one game.
