This goldeneye is a bit of an odd duck.
The egg it eventually hatched from landed among a family of wood ducks near the St. John River in Fredericton.
The egg was part of a practice called interspecific brood parasitism, when a bird lays an egg in another bird s nest. Basically not putting all your eggs in one basket, said Samantha Brewster, education specialist for Ducks Unlimited, a nonprofit organization that conserves wetlands.
Back Bay dance troupes ready for showtime in person

The new school year started on Zoom for the Corona del Mar High School Orchesis Dance Company due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This made learning new routines, well, a bit problematic.
Allie Antoyan, one of two senior “presidents” essentially team captains of CdM Orchesis, smiles when she thinks about those times.
