Okowa inaugurates project committee for 3 new universities

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta on Wednesday inaugurated Project Management Committee members for the three newly established universities in the state.
Okowa, who performed the function in Government House, Asaba, said that the creation of three new universities in the state was to broaden the citizens’ access to university education.
The Committee has Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, as Chairman, with Ambassador Godson Echegile, Prof. Emmanuel Nwanze, and Prof. John Enaohwo as members.
Others include Prof. Abednego Ekoko, Prof. Sam Ukala, Mr Ejiro Udjo, while Mrs Bridget Odobor will serve as Secretary.

Delta Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reconstitute the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), saying that instability in the commission’s board has contributed to the systemic institutional failure of the agency.
Okowa, who is the Chairman, South-South Governors’ Forum, made the call in Asaba, on Thursday at the launch of “Resource Dependence, Violent Conflict and Economic Development in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria”, a book written by Dr Michael Tidi,
Chairman, Warri South Local Government Council.
He said that Buhari should give NDDC a board that would be accountable and eliminate politicization of the interventionist agency, adding that it was time for Niger Delta people to collectively talk about the commission.
