Carroll s season ends in regional semifinals VICTORIA JACOBSEN | The Journal Gazette Lafayette Jefferson beat Carroll 52-46 to knock Carroll out of the Class 4A state tournament in the Logansport regional semifinal Saturday afternoon. The Chargers (18-7) took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter and led by as much as 39-33 early in the fourth quarter after Sam Strycker hit two free throws, but the Bronchos (25-2) wrestled back the lead with a 12-0 scoring streak fueled by Brooks Barnhizer, Brady Preston and Jahsiah Kirk-Williams. Six of those 12 points came at the free throw line. The fourth quarter Jefferson run started with about five minutes left in the game, around the time that Carroll junior Jalen Jackson left the game holding his back after he crashed backwards into the second row of bleachers. High Schools JOURNAL GAZETTE   Elevation Prep posted a 90-82 victory at Class 2A, No. 1 Blackhawk Christian on Saturday, getting 25 points from RaSheed Jones and 22 from Reggie Ward. Zane Burke pumped in a game-high 28 points for the Braves (17-3), while Caleb Furst added 23 points. Blackhawk, which fell to the No. 4 team in Class 4A on Friday, has now lost consecutive games for the first time since a three-game slide in January 2017. Caedmon Bontrager, who started the season at Lakewood Park before transferring to Elevation Prep two weeks ago, scored 16 for the visitors. High School Roundup: Homestead comes back to beat South Side in sectional finals VICTORIA JACOBSEN | The Journal Gazette South Side held Homestead to just nine points in the first half, but the Spartans shut down the Archers in the third quarter and did just enough to win 33-31 and claim the Class 4A Columbia City sectional title on Saturday night, Homestead s third straight sectional title and seventh in eight years.  Junior Ayanna Patterson scored 21 of her team s points, and the Spartans (18-5), who hit eight 3-pointers against Columbia City in the semifinals on Friday, hit just two of 11 attempts on Saturday and shot 26.7% from the field as a team.
