The LaSalle Public Library will be virtually hosting Father Dominic Garramone aka the Bread Monk, on Tuesday, March 28th, at 6:30 p.m. for a presentation on the history of scones, from medieval times to present day. The presentation will include basic techniques for a classic scone recipe with some easy variations, and more advanced recipes, like Norfolk scones with a layer of raspberry filling, and savory scones with bacon, cheddar and chives. <br/><br/>Father Dominic Garramone, OSB, is a monk at Saint Bede Abbey in Peru, Illinois. He was the host of<br/>the PBS cooking show, Breaking Bread with Father Dominic, from 1999 to 2001. He has written ten<br/>cookbooks. On Saturday, February 5th at 1:00 p.m. central, the LaSalle Public Library will virtually host Father Dominic Garramone, when he presents a special program celebrating Valentine’s Day. <br/><br/>Prepare for Valentine’s Day with Father Dominic. In this virtual program, learn how to make flaky puff pastry from scratch in less time then it takes to go to the store, and see how to use it to make buttery, bite-sized treats like heart-shaped cronuts, savory cheese puffs and butterscotch napoleons.
