by Dr. Emily Horne, Anesthesiologist, Chief of Staff at SageWest Health Care
For most of us, this past holiday season was unlike any other we have experienced. Instead of the typical hustle and bustle of holiday parties, family gatherings, and being surrounded by those we love â this year was just different. I know for me personally, I missed celebrating Christmas with my parents. I also missed enjoying my kids’ summer activities and gathering with my friends.
While changing traditions this year was hard, I know there are people here in our community who are facing much greater difficulties because of how COVID-19 has impacted their lives. I see these challenges every single day in my role on the frontlines of fighting this pandemic as an anesthesiologist and also currently serving as the chief of staff at SageWest Health Care.
SageWest Health Care received an initial allocation of COVID-19 vaccines and is in the process of distributing them in accordance with prioritization guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the federal government, state and local public health partners. Vaccine administration has begun with our frontline healthcare workers.
SageWest Health Care is pleased to be taking this next exciting step toward ending the pandemic and advancing our mission of Making Communities Healthier.

In-patient services resume at Riverton hospital
RIVERTON (WNE) â In-patient services have resumed at the SageWest Health Care Riverton hospital.
Hospital administrators said an initiative by Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon has provided supplemental staffing resources to support the influx of hospital patients due to the rapid acceleration of COVID-19 in the community.
âWe would like to thank Gov. Gordonâs initiative, the Department of Health and the Wyoming Hospital Association for their staffing resource support,â SageWest Health Care CEO John Ferrelli said in a prepared statement.
All patients temporarily had been moved to Lander earlier this month.
Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and recent statewide hospitalizations, last week Gordon issued a statewide public-health order requiring the use of face coverings in almost all places outside of the home.
