Mallicoat. Im maria medina. The fire is next to the northbound lanes of 280 south of highway 92 in belmont. A chopper dropped water on the flames. Two northbound lanes on 280 are blocked with fire equipment. Right now there is light traffic in the area so the backup isnt too bad. But if you are heading that way, expect traffic to get worse. Cell phone video shows how close it is to the road. A driver shot it through his window. The fire is 15 acres and 25 contained. Firefighters are fighting the socalled crystal fire from the ground and the air and using natural resources. A helicopter gathered watered from the nearby Crystal Springs reservoir to dump on flames and firefighters used retardant to get it under control. Its visible against the blue sky.
