FIU College of Engineering and Computing alumnus Charles Kamhoua recently won the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE-USA) Harry Diamond Memorial Award.
The Carnegie Classification ranked the university as a “Research 1″ doctoral university in December. Higher education institutions who receive this status are considered ones that are producing the highest level of research.
The university is Virginia's fifth to qualify as a "Research 1" doctoral institution according to the Carnegie Classification, with some 450 active research projects involving cybersecurity and other fields.
