Senior Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir also sent the nine other accused to jail this afternoon, our local correspondent reports. Narayanganj Court Police Inspector Asaduzzaman said the court granted two days remand for each of the five arrested after the cargo vessel MV SKL-3 was seized yesterday. On April 4, MV SKL-3 hit the launch, MV Sabit Al Hasan, in the Shitalakkhya river on, killing 34 people.  The accused who were remanded are Ahidur Zaman (50), master of MV SKL-3, engine driver Majnu Molla (38), Anwar Mallik (40), Hridoy Hawlader (20) and Md Farhan Molla (27).

Cargo-vessel responsible for Shitalakkhya launch capsize seized 196 NARAYANGANJ, Apr 8, 2021 (BSS) – Cargo ship SKL-3, which pushed the ‘MV Sabit Al Hasan’ launch causing it’s capsize in the Shitalakkhya River on Sunday was seized today from Gazaria in Munshiganj by the Pagla Station Coast Guards’ here. Also, 14 people were detained during the seizure of the vessel. Narayanganj Naval Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident saying that, “The ship has been handed over to the naval police. We are bringing it to Narayanganj.” He said legal action will be taken after checking whether the detainees are the crews or members of the ship.

BIWTA files case over N’ganj launch capsize 128 Authority (BIWTA) has filed a case over death of 34 as a passenger launch capsized in the Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj on Sunday. BIWTA deputy director (naval traffic) Babu Lal Baidya filed the case against unidentified persons on Tuesday night with Narayanganj Bandar Police Station and that was later transferred to naval police. “The case was filed under sections 280, 304, 329, 338, 427 and 437 of the penal code and section 70 of the Inland Shipping Ordinance 1976,” office in-charge Dipak Chandra of Bandar Police Station told BSS. that rammed the smaller passenger launch named Sabit Al Hasan.
