Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor launched the Sabah Youth Entrepreneur Jaya Scheme (Syabas) portal at Menara Kinabalu, Tuesday.  Syabas is the State Government’s new initiative introduced in the 2022 Budget to drive economic development and strengthen the potential of Sabah’s youths.  The programme is an initiative pioneered by Hajiji through the aspirations voiced by the younger generation to help the youths of Sabah develop existing businesses or start new businesses.  The State Government allocated RM10 million for the Syabas programme to provide financial assistance to Sabah’s youth entrepreneurs.  Among the objectives of the Syabas programme is to help youths start a business after losing their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic, help youth entrepreneurs who have products to develop business operations and help build youth entrepreneurs to build an international network through export/import business activities to sustain the youths&rsq

The Government should focus on maintaining and upgrading existing sports complexes and stadiums, instead of developing and enhancing new sports industries, said Luyang Assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe.  The former Sabah Youth and Sports Minister was responding to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s announcement that the Government is planning to build drag racing circuits in every State to enhance Malaysia’s motorsports scene.  “If we cannot even maintain the current facilities, how would the Government be able to maintain the racing circuits after building them?  “Would the government suddenly slash the budget of current training programmes for this new project?
