Miguel Aguilar
Aguilar has been part of the Diamondbacks organization since 2017. His most recent American appearance came at the end of the 2019 season in the Arizona Fall League, when he put up an impressive 17:1 K:BB ratio over 12.1 innings. This winter, he pitched for Yaquis de Obregon in the Mexican League, with a 2.04 ERA and team-leading eight saves; he had a K:BB of 13:3 in 17.2 IP. All told, across 110 minor-league innings, he has a 2.37 ERA and a K:BB of 126:36. Good
morning afternoon, Athletics Nation!
The New York Mets began the winter with a fresh start, but it didn’t last long.
The team was bought by a new owner, Steve Cohen, and he overhauled the front office from scratch, led by president Sandy Alderson. Just over a month ago, they hired Jared Porter as their general manager, and not long afterward they made a blockbuster trade for superstar Francisco Lindor.
But now the revamped organization has already hit its first scandal. Porter was fired as GM on Tuesday, after an ESPN story revealed inappropriate sexual behavior in his past in which he “sent explicit, unsolicited texts and images to a female reporter in 2016.” Porter acknowledged sending the texts.
MLB Trade Rumors
The Diamondbacks have agreed to a minor league deal with left-hander
Ryan Buchter, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports (via Twitter). Buchter will receive $925K if he makes Arizona’s Major League roster.
After signing a minors deal with the Angels last winter, Buchter posted a 4.50 ERA over six relief innings in 2020 before opting for free agency again in September rather than accept an outright assignment off the Angels’ 40-man roster. Buchter caught on with the Yankees on another minor league deal but didn’t see any action with the team, hitting the open market again after the season.
