Maharashtra govt announces ‘corona-free village’ contest with Rs 50 lakh prize money
The Maharashtra government on Wednesday announced a ‘corona-free village’ contest to encourage the rural areas of the state to curb the spread of Covid-19. The winning village in each revenue division of the state will get Rs 50 lakh prize money.

In order to encourage the local administration in Maharashtra’s villages to take steps to curb the spread of Covid-19, the state government on Wednesday announced a ‘corona-free village’ contest. The winning village in each of the six revenue divisions of the state will get Rs 50 lakh as prize money.
After five small villages in the state independently attained Covid-free status in May, the Maharashtra government has now come up with a unique proposal to inspire more such rural settlements to "chase away the virus".Rural .
