website, which i think was always sort of a short term blip. well, we ve seen this happen before, by conservatives, when it came to other changes, social security, medicare, medicaid. and even in the south, when the civil rights movement was taking place. there were a lot of conservatives who were against it. they re on the wrong side of history of this one. let s talk about president obama for a moment. ruth, what is his real mission in 2014, before the mid terms? nobody can sell this or politically better than president obama. his mother died of ovarian cancer. she didn t have insurance. he still has that very gut-wrenching personal story to tell. and they re obstructing everything else. they re not going to help with the jobs package or the budget. so why didn t he just go out there and sell obama care all over again? what s he got to lose? i m with you, ed. i think that s right. and i think the administration is doing that. i think when they tell members of congress to go home
story. nearby connecticut. and here in rhode island. the smallest state where often we have a bit of an inferiority complex. but not about obama care. i had no appointment. i was in, insured and out in 25 minutes. and i had been shopping for the last several years online. the coverage i got was more comprehensive than, and cheaper than the stuff i had been shopping for for a couple years online. so look what s happening. you ve got all these sore head righty governors in states like texas who usually preach states rights. but when it came to this. uncle sam do the job. and with the other hand, they re saying give us medicare funds here in rhode island and those other state exchange states. things are working fine. ruth connive, isn t it going to be interesting to watch the insurance industry advertise for people to go look at plans, yet the very people that they re supporting are out there, just
my girls can no longer be discriminated against for having a preexisting condition. thanks to obama care. my daughters have access to preventive care they need as cancer survivors now. for the rest of their lives, without worry of outrageous co-pays. i got a letter a couple weeks ago from my messages insurance department, saying my plan was going to be cancelled because the whole category of the self-employed group plan is eliminated under the law. the i.tation of the affordable care act means you ll be he ll not be denied insurance, due to his preexisting heart condition. every day, we hear heartwrenching stories from americans, getting letters about their health care plans being cancelled or the cost of their new plan is skyrocketing. joining me now is our rapid response panel, ruth connive for the progressive magazine out of wisconsin and talk radio and media consultant, holland cook. great to have you both with us
land, and it s going to happen. and it s going to make things better. there is going to be lower costs, more transparency, kids can stay on their parents health insurance until they re adults. but the truth is, people should push for national health care. and i think we should make sarah palin right. i think that we should look at our heart attack system and say you know what, we can do better than this, and even better than the affordable care act. and in those 26 states where republican governors have decided not to allow medicaid expansion and we have 8 million people who are too poor to qualify for the affordable care act, and can t be covered, they need to push hard and we need to push hard on their behalf. and i think, you know, we can do better than this as a country. it s a lie that the american health care system is better than the rest of the developed world. in fact, we spend a third of every health care dollar on administration. it s very inefficient and we have a lot of u
