Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): Nagaland has a total of 1283749 electors comprising 645168 male and 638581 female. Additionally, there are 7965 service electors comprising 7857 male and 108 female. This was contained in the draft photo electoral roll which was published for all the 60 assembly constituencies in Nagaland by the respective electoral registration officer (See box). The number of electors as per the draft roll, 2023 is as per the table below:- According to an update from the Election department, the Electors-Population (EP) ratio of the state was 532 and gender ratio stands at 1000 males:1002 females as per the published draft roll. The period for filing claims and objections would be from November 9 to December 8. It added that special camps would be held in all the polling stations on November 18 and 19 and for receiving claims and objections would be held on December 2 and 3. An update from the Election department informed that the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar, has stressed on the importance of a healthy and error-free electoral rolls for conduct of elections, which is at the heart of democracy. Shekhar also highlighted on the recent amendments in the election laws, particularly the introduction of multiple qualifying days for enrolment in the electoral roll and collection of Aadhaar data from the electors on voluntary basis for linking and authentication of electoral rolls data. Dimapur, June 29 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), V Shashank Shekhar, has emphasised on the important role of district electoral machinery headed by the deputy commissioners and district election officers in the overall conduct and management of the entire electoral process. Shekhar stated this during the inaugural function of a two-day training programme of the deputy commissioners (DC) and district election officers (DEO) held at the commissioner’s conference hall in Kohima on June 29. The training is being conducted in accordance with directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), an update from the Election department stated.
