Dimapur, June 29 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), V Shashank Shekhar, has emphasised on the important role of district electoral machinery headed by the deputy commissioners and district election officers in the overall conduct and management of the entire electoral process. Shekhar stated this during the inaugural function of a two-day training programme of the deputy commissioners (DC) and district election officers (DEO) held at the commissioner’s conference hall in Kohima on June 29. The training is being conducted in accordance with directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), an update from the Election department stated. Shekhar expressed hope that all the concerned would benefit from the training. He further expressed hope that the resource persons would enjoy their visit to Nagaland. The two-day training programme is being conducted by resource persons from the Election Commission of India (ECI) and India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM). The training is being conducted in order to equip the district election officers with knowledge and skill for the forthcoming general election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
