to democratic institution continues. that s the general counsel of the january 6th committee. in terms of the urgency of getting the testimony, which the amount of testimony this committee has accrued, just as we ve learned from the hearings is pretty astounding. and i m curious what you think of the work they ve presented so far? the work that they ve done is absolutely outstanding. and i suspect that they could probably do another season worth of ease on the basis of evidence that they already have in the bank. and apparently, if it s true, as liz cheney said, that the dams have opened up. that s not surprising at all. there is no reason for short to make that up, and it certainly makes sense, given the fact that the jake is basically up and people are telling the truth and telling the story. you know, we ve got a lot more coming, and i think what s
texts from that day, from the details of the vice president and the president. are some of the most important pieces of evidence we can get. what do you think? absolutely. and the way the story has changed just a matter of days. there was an agency wide upgrade of foam that may have compromise some unknown text messages over a wide range of time. now we re drilling down to, as you pointed, out the key moments and tenth specific agents. they know what they are missing. and apparently those messages are relevant and the fact those are among the messages that are gone, it raises all kinds of red. flags the select committee, every time they learn something new, the alarms go off. did not learn thing the saying, maybe there s an explanation. they re saying, this is crazy. they subpoenaed the agency and its outgoing director, jamie murray. and i think some of his messages might be missing,
they are not sure that he can win. they talk about baggage a lot. they are just, you know, they are very keen on beating joe biden and seen republicans gain control. and so, they kind of do this armchair political analysis, where they say, i don t know, i just think too many people hate him. and he s got so baggage. and so, you know, i think that what you said there around the waning is true. but let me be clear about something. they don t dislike donald trump. and they will absolutely vote for donald trump if he is the nominee. they still like him. it s a pure political calculation that they are making. yeah, i mean that s very clear. and also, i don t think there is much more lumberjack about the fact that like he tried to get his vice president guild. i mean, i m not seeing anyone like caring that much about that, as a first ethical question. but this, on this political thing, the way that i think about it is, in 2020, this
question of electability really loomed enormously large over democratic primary voters. and you saw discussion all the time, bernie sanders, elizabeth warren, particularly those two, would they be electable, compared to joe biden? and it but i think ultimately it helped joe biden secure in nomination, that calculation. how much do you think republicans are thinking in that boat, and how much can you imagine that coming to play, if there is in fact the contested primary, which looks like there will be? this is like a very key point, because it s not that these republican voters are watching the january 6th hearings, and thinking, oh, i am now persuaded that i don t like donald trump. it s the ambient noise, the cumulation sort of diminishing their sense that he could potentially win. but the other major factor is that there are a bunch of other candidates that day like. they are very enthusiastic
be quite different and innovative almost. in what they are trying to do with the hearing and as someone who s chaired hearings, and participated in hearings, i m just curious, what do you think of what they re doing? i think they re brilliant. this has exceeded all my expectations, but then, again, nothing has shocked me. and so, every hearing, there s revelations that are pretty amazing. and just the fact like cipollone basically saying, yeah, so and so forth. four was against the president on that. and so and so and so. everybody else, for him mr. counsel, what can i say? i mean, they are pretty entertaining. but also devastating. but again, nothing shocks me,
