Cosmos Hotel & Resorts Group (天成飯店集團) is seeking to expand under a multibrand and asset-light business model that might allow it to launch an initial public offering (IPO) in 2024.
The strategy means the group would focus on hotel and restaurant operations rather than invest in physical assets, because such an approach can deliver a better return on assets, lower profit volatility, greater flexibility and higher scale-driven cost savings, Cosmos chief executive officer Mike Chang (張東豪) said in an interview with the Chinese-language Commercial Times yesterday.
The group’s properties include Hua Shan Din (華山町) near Taipei’s Zhongxiao-Xinsheng MRT Station, Cosmos Taipei (台北天成大飯店)

Taipei, Jan. 3 (CNA) Seven of the 10 properties selected in a online poll as Taiwan's most beautiful resort hotels are in Hualien County and Nantou County, two of the island's top vacation destinations, according to the travel agency that conducted the survey.
The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) should record all incidents, as well as the causes of the incidents, on its Web site so that the public can review them, the New Power Party (NPP) caucus said yesterday, calling for a comprehensive reform of the TRA after 222 abnormal operational incidents were reported between June and September.
While the TRA disclosed the incidents to the public when they occurred, it did not record the information for future reference, NPP deputy caucus whip Chen Jiau-hua (陳椒華) said, adding that the TRA’s monthly report of railway incidents is not made public until two months later.
