Bhastekar pole vault win, Taylor's fast 600m highlight Wooo Pig Classic

Azorback Etamar Bhastekar won the pole vault with a clearance of 17 feet, 0.75 inches and Kieran Taylor posted a runner-up time of 1 minute, 16.86 seconds in the 600m to highlight performances by Arkansas during the Wooo Pig Classic held in the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Pair of Razorback 110m hurdlers set career best times at separate Trials

A career best time of 13.41 seconds placed Razorback Tre’Bien Gilbert fifth in his semifinal heat during Saturday’s action at the U.S. Olympic Trials at a very hot Hayward Field. In Kingston, Jamaica, Arkansas alum Omar McLeod and current Razorback Phillip Lemonious both reached Sunday’s final in the 110m hurdles.

Gilbert Boit advances to Eugene as runner-up in 10,000m

Shawn Price May 26, 2021 COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Gilbert Boit advanced to Eugene in the 10,000m with a runner-up finish in the distance race on the first evening of the NCAA West Preliminary round held at E.B. Cushing Stadium. Boit becomes the third Razorback to earn a trip to Oregon for the NCAA Championships. Boit used a final lap split of 59.76 seconds to move into second place as he posted a time of 29:10.36. Iowa State’s Wesley Kiptoo broke away from the field of 48 runners early and won the race in 28:50.11. BYU’s Conner Mantz finished third in 29:10.91. No. 12 Arkansas among five top 25 schools at LSU Invitational

Shawn Price April 29, 2021 BATON ROUGE, La. – As the outdoor season progresses towards the conference meet, the No. 12 Razorbacks compete in the LSU Invitational on Saturday, May 1, inside Bernie Moore Stadium. The host Tigers are currently No. 1 in the national ratings index produced by USTFCCCA. “We’re making good progress in our sprint area and had a few breakthroughs last week,” said Arkansas men’s head coach Chris Bucknam. “We are still looking to improve and will see how things go with Philip Lemonious in the 110m hurdles and Jeremy Farr in the 400m with their forward progress. “We need to sharpen up our relays and get better overall as we work towards the first championship that is coming up with the conference meet in two weeks.”

Fans greeted to impressive marks at John McDonnell Invitational

Shawn Price April 24, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Competing in front of home fans for the first time this season, the Razorbacks had solid performances for the 867 in attendance on the first day of the John McDonnell Invitational. Nick Hilson supplied a victory in the 400m hurdles, posting a season best time of 50.75 seconds as Cody Johnson of Kansas finished second in 51.46. Hilson sports a career best of 49.92 from 2019 that ranks fourth on the UA all-time list. The leader through the first day of the decathlon is Daniel Spejcher with a career best score of 4,028 points. Teammate Markus Ballengee is currently in second place at 3,919 while Tyler Brendel is in fifth place with 3,671 points.
