Even before his official start as a CFO for the Amathole District Municipality, Lubabalo Manjingolo’s appointment is being contested. A losing candidate in the selection process and an NGO are questioning the appointment.
Senior ANC leaders in the Amathole district municipality are said to be unhappy after the ruling party’s provincial leadership issued a directive instructing the caucus to support the appointment of a new chief financial officer (CFO) even though he faces corruption charges.
The corruption charges against ANC Amathole regional secretary Thembalethu “Teris” Ntutu and 17 others, including businesspeople and their companies as well as former and current employees of Mnquma local municipality, have been reinstated.
