Of the ada, past, present, and future. President George H W Bush signed the americans with disabilities act into law on july 26, 1990. That was 27 years ago. The ada was one of the First Federal civil rights laws, focused on protecting persons with disabilities and against discrimination and public accommodations and services and telecommunications. I am especially proud to hide the commissions role in the commission of that law. The disabilities focus and legislation in a 1983 report titled accommodating individual responsibilities.
