THE Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) have made a significant move to support cooperative education and deepen the understanding of the cooperative movement with the launch of a dedicated Cooperative Section at the NLP.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano donated 20 sewing machines during the Pasay City Cooperative Gender and Development (GAD) Summit.
Rubiano said the summit was conducted in celebration of the “National Cooperative Month” held at the Joe Rizal Elementary School on Oct. 22.

According to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, the “Diskwento Caravan” project of the PCCDO also aims to lessen the movement of individuals in going to the market or malls.
Rubiano said the project is also part of the city government’s efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the city.
Aside from controlling the spread of COVID-19, the city government, through the PCCDO headed by Rowena Buenaventura, seeks to help cooperatives in the 201 barangays sell their commodities like homemade dishwashing liquid and alcohol.
Rubiano said the “Diskwento Caravan,” in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), also aims to help the local economy recover from adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
