Brownfield clean-up paves way for new Rosina plant in West Seneca

Rosina Foods The state Department of Environmental Conservation said Rosina Foods has completed brownfield clean-up at its Clinton Street location in West Seneca. This paves the way for construction of a new $58-million-dollar food manufacturing plant on the 10-acre site. The DEC said, from the early 1900s to the 1960s, the site at 3100 Clinton St. was used as railroad yards. The clean-up included nearly 46,000 tons of soil that was grossly contaminated. Rosina s new 105,000 square-foot plant will be adjacent to the company s other West Seneca facility, which produces pastas and entrees. In a filing with the Erie County Industrial Development Agency, Rosina said its new state-of-the-art plant will have the capacity to double its production of frozen meatballs and sausages, from 20 million to 40 million pounds annually. It will replace an outdated line in Cheektowaga with about 100 employees, who will be transfered to West Seneca. Another 40 new jobs also will be created by th
