First day back to school for some students
Starting today, some local schools are allowing students to come back to the classroom.

Monday, April 12th, some local schools reopened to students. Whether they were hybrid or fully remote, now some schools are allowing all students back to the classroom. We spoke with the Rome and Utica School District Superintendents.
Rome Free Academy had hybrid learning, but now students can go back full time. It was a busy day as schools prepared for all of the students coming back to in person learning. The Rome Free Academy Superintendent, Peter Blake, said It s a great day. It s wonderful to welcome back the students that want to be back for in person learning.
The Rome School District is taking an extra week before bringing the students back to in-school learning.

ROME, N.Y. The Rome City School District falls within the State of New York’s Yellow Zone. That means 20% of students and staff have to be tested for COVID-19 before opening the schools.
The district plans to open multiple testing sites, along with a centralized evening location at Strough Middle School. Rome Superintendent of Schools Peter Blake is hopeful the schools will remain open. People want a sense of normalcy, and at some point and time we do have to try our best to give that to them, said Blake. I think having gone through Thanksgiving and then the holiday season people in our region saw how quickly this thing can spread, and how dangerous it can be, and we may have learned our lesson the hard way a little bit, but I do think people are much more diligent even than they were
