University of Bolton has taken the role for 2021-2023 As part of the sponsorship the Octagon will work with the university to support students through annual work experience placements and practical research opportunities for post-graduate students. The venue will also launch a new annual Octagon Student Prize for English and Creative writing students with the recipient receiving free access to theatre workshops, mentoring from the artistic and literary teams and career development opportunities in to the industry. The Octagon’s Chief Executive Roddy Gauld said: “I’m thrilled that we’ll be working with the university again over the next two years as our Principal Sponsor.

Octagon Theatre and Bolton Council get £500K to support arts and culture

BOLTON S arts and culture scene has been thrown a lifeline with a funding boost of nearly half-a-million pounds. The Octagon Theatre and Bolton Council has been awarded cash from the government s Culture Recovery Fund to support their reopening out of lockdown. This is the second time the Octagon has received funding from this pot, which it says has helped ensure its survival. This latest round of funding has been awarded specifically to sustain arts and cultural organisations between the April – June period whilst they reopen in line with the Government’s roadmap.
