Ludlow food bank leader Ruth Davies wished her charity was not necessary

A LUDLOW volunteer says that she would love to have nothing to do. Ruth Davies, writes in the Hands Together Ludlow newsletter, that she wishes that the foodbank she leads could close because it was not needed but she does not see this happening. “The latest statistics show that 10 per cent of children in Ludlow are living below the poverty line, and one area is the second most deprived in Shropshire,” said Ms Davies, who works from the Rockspring Centre. “It is true that morally there should not be a need for food banks in 21st Century Britain, but when facing the need that we see on an almost daily basis, I feel compelled by the love of Christ to help people at their point of need.

Ludlow Group helping with sessions to support mental and physical health

Wellbeing is a really important part of looking after ourselves in these challenging times. As it is not possible to run these sessions at Rockspring Centre at the moment, there is a regular Zoom timetable and any members and their families who would like to join in are welcome get involved with the group.. It is not known when the Rockspring Centre will be able to open again. As well as being home to the Working Together group that integrates those with learning difficulties into the community, the centre is also normally the base for a range of activities and is the home to the Ludlow Food Bank as well as the Repair Cafes that are currently on hold.
