Visitors could buy raffle tickets as well as chicken barbecue and hot dog dinners. There also were auction items to bid on. Information about local cancer support services was also available. It s excellent. Everybody here loves it. We re all volunteers here doing it; we re all chipping in to help it work, said Mike Poweski, chairman of Elks Against Cancer.
Before today s event, Rochester Elks #24 has raised nearly $30,000 for Gilda s Club of Rochester. Its first Elks Against Cancer fundraiser was held in 2017 and has grown into what it is today.

ROCHESTER On Saturday, Jan. 9, representatives from the Rochester, NH Elks No. 1393 presented donations made possible by the Elks National Foundation Beacon/Spotlight Grant Programs. There were two separate donations totaling $5,500 dollars.

Veterans Home in Tilton, NH for the first presentation. The NHVH was established in 1890 and has a capacity of 250 residents. It has recently been hit hard with COVID-19 cases. A check in the amount of $2,500 was presented by the Rochester contingent to Margaret D. Labrecque, Commandant of the Veterans Home. During the pandemic, residents have been confined to their rooms to control the spread of COVID-19. The money will be used to provide new bedside tables so they can more easily eat their daily meals, which would normally be served in their dining areas. Other item
