Whether it was expertly handling a breaking news story minutes before deadline or leaning his motorcycle deep into the diving left Turn 2 at Mosport Park, journalist Dave Dutton was the epitome of grace under pressure.
Well, maybe not the grace part. Dutton, who died Friday afternoon at The Ottawa Hospital of COVID-19, was an old-school newsman who cared little for niceties. His profane outbursts on the Ottawa Citizen night editing desk were legendary and his fellow editors, and the reporters he guided and mentored, loved him for it.
