WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The COVID-19 pandemic can instill fear in people and you can bet there are crooks that want to take advantage of that.
AARP is teaming up with the U.S. Postal Service and U.S. Attorney’s office to spread scam awareness.
“We believe educating seniors is the best way to prevent them from becoming victims of fraud,” said Robert Wemyss, postal service Deputy Chief Inspector.
So what should you be looking out for? Officials detail two common scams targeting seniors- the first involves requesting payment through gift cards.
