The current terms of incumbent councilmen Robert Strovinsky and Michael Drennan will end on Dec. 31.
In response to an inquiry from the Examiner asking if he plans to seek re-election, Strovinsky said, “I do not plan to run again. I enjoyed serving on council, but it is time to move on.”

ALLENTOWN – Residents of Allentown spent an hour during the evening of April 20 asking questions to the land use attorney who is representing borough officials as they seek to mitigate the impact of commercial development in neighboring Robbinsville.
The Borough Council meeting that night was held in a virtual manner during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Dozens of residents signed in to view the meeting. Several municipal officials were in Borough Hall and some officials were at remote locations.
Attorney Michele Donato joined the virtual meeting to answer questions about the Mercer Corporate Park on Robbinsville-Allentown Road, which is Church Street in Allentown and is also designated as county Route 526.

ALLENTOWN – The members of the Allentown Borough Council have adopted a municipal budget for 2021 that totals $3.13 million and will be supported through the collection of a $1.68 million local tax levy.
The budget was adopted during the council’s April 6 meeting, which was conducted in a virtual manner during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Council President John A. Elder III, Councilman Robert Strovinsky, Councilman Michael Drennan, Councilwoman Martha Johnson and Councilwoman Erica Torsiello voted “yes” on a motion to adopt the budget. Councilman Dan Payson was absent from the meeting.

ALLENTOWN – The members of the Allentown Borough Council have introduced the 2021 municipal budget and scheduled a public hearing for April 6. At that time, residents may ask questions or make comments about the budget.
Council members introduced the budget during their March 2 meeting, which was conducted in a virtual manner during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Allentown government reorganizes; officials look forward to busy 2021
ALLENTOWN – Municipal officials in Allentown have a full agenda of projects ahead of them in 2021 and they got the new year’s business underway when they held their annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 5.
The 2021 reorganization meeting marked a first for the historic borough on the far western border of Monmouth County as it was held in a virtual manner due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Only a handful of officials were present at Borough Hall; some officials participated from home, while residents had the chance to watch the proceedings via a live broadcast. The virtual meetings are expected to continue through at least the first quarter of 2021. A full meeting schedule with links and times of meetings will be posted on the borough’s website.
