taken. some people think it is the wrong approach. robert and then betsy, tell me what you think. well, chris, having been in and around politics for the past 40 years, i can tell you it is better to try to get as much in as you possibly can with the hope that people actually like what you are doing politically and therefore will put pressure on politicians to extend it. that is the political rule. that s how we have done a lot of things. i suggest that congress do exactly the same. so you re on board with that and that s interesting to someone who is a veteran to some of this stuff. betsy, what do you think? you know, i think one of the things that frustrated me about the whole debate is we have focused on what is the dollar amount instead of what is the value and what are we getting. so i think it is most important that we make the investments for children early on so that we re expanding that child tax credit, that we re making the investments in early childhood education, uni

robert reich. i think it s fine for democrats to have this debate but democrats are going to have to accept the fact that hillary is the nominee, folks. we have seen in rand paul s candidacies repeatedly someone with nothing to lose who wants to get on debate stage and make certain arguments. robert reich, if he chose to be the rand paul of this campaign would be a very formidable debate opponent on the stage for hillary clinton. this is a guy that really knows his stuff. think about al sharpton in 2004. he was clear i m just basically to pull you all to the left. he brought up some issues all of the candidates had to address. so if reich is on stage, it would work better if there were multiple candidates so it s not a versus b. but i really think that the democrats need more than just one core nated candidate.
