BOSTON Nine men, including several from southeastern Massachusetts, have been charged federally in connection with what prosecutors described as a large-scale and wide-ranging drug trafficking investigation that involved cocaine being sent through the mail.
Patrick Joseph, 39, of Stoughton; Donald Cue, 36, of Randolph; Night Menard, 36, of Randolph; Christian Junior Alvarado-Deleon, 20, of Randolph; and Robert Monteiro, 37, of Brockton, were among the nine men charged Thursday in U.S. District Court in Boston with one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base.
“We allege that the defendants received parcels sent via U.S. Mail from Puerto Rico and containing kilograms of cocaine which we allege they then sold here in our communities, Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. A Harwich resident was among nine men charged Thursday in connection with what was described as a “large-scale” and “wide-ranging” cocaine trafficking conspiracy that the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said involved packages sent through the mail.
“We allege that the defendants received parcels sent via U.S. Mail from Puerto Rico and containing kilograms of cocaine which we allege they then sold here in our communities,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell in a statement Thursday night. “The trafficking conspiracy was detected and dismantled thanks to effective investigative work by the people who protect our mail system and by local and state law enforcement.”
