Fruslerías olímpicas
Una lista larga de importantes acontecimientos, ideas y publicaciones se dieron y crearon en 1896, al tiempo que ocurrían eventos soberbiamente irrelevantes en Atenas, tal como en estos días nos llegará desde Tokio una similar plétora de fruslerías.

Allá en 1896, cuando se reanudaron los juegos olímpicos en Atenas, Pierre de Coubertin escribió que estos eran “modernos en su carácter, no solo por sus programas, que sustituyeron la bicicleta por las carreras de cuadrigas, y la esgrima por las brutalidades del pugilismo, sino porque su origen y reglamento eran internacionales y universales”. Además eran modernos porque para medir las distancias se utilizaba el metro, que en aquel entonces se definía como la diezmillonésima parte del cuadrante de un meridiano terrestre.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police say the same two men are responsible for multiple carjackings and an armed robbery in both New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.
In the Jefferson Parish incident on Woodvine Drive, Police say a woman was returning home last Friday night. As she got to the front door, the two gunmen approached her and snatched her car keys out of her hand. Moments later, the gunmen came back and took the woman’s purse. The victim’s husband was inside at the time and came running out as the gunmen took off in his wife’s car.
