Police: Murder suspect arrested on gun charge day before killing
MUNCIE, Ind. A day before he allegedly killed a local man with a shotgun, a Muncie man was arrested on a firearms-related charge.
Brandon C. Hodge, 28, of the 300 block of North Hodson Avenue, is charged with murder and two other crimes in last week s slaying of Robert Eugene Trey Scott III.
City police said the 33-year-old Scott was fatally shot about 4:40 a.m. on Feb. 28 in a backyard near the victim s home in the 2200 block of West Ninth Street.
Scott s former girlfriend Morgan L. Bell, 26 also is charged in the homicide.

Robert Eugene âBobâ Chipley, age 83, of Pigeon Forge, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021.
He was born Feb. 1, 1937 in Burlington, Kentucky and grew up on the family farm. Bob was a dedicated Pigeon Forge firefighter and honor-guard member. He loved his church, Parkway Church of God, and served on the security team there. His hobbies included fishing, playing cards and shooting hoops with his grandkids. Robert loved life and all of his dear friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Jean Chipley; son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Lorie Chipley; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Jeffrey Sheridan; grandchildren, Brian Fromen, Shane Chipley, Lexi Sheridan, Sydney Chipley, and Jesse Chipley; sister, Mary Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
