A Mackay man who says he carried around a butcherâs knife for self-defence against vigilantes was told his actions could have been âcatastrophicâ.
Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday heard police arrested Kasey Phillips Charles George at the Rural View Caltex service station in relation to another matter about 1pm on April 21.
Prosecutor Robert Beamish said when police then searched George, they found a butcherâs knife with a 27cm blade concealed in the front waistband of his shorts.
â(George) stated the knife was for use for protection or self defence against vigilantes that may be seeking him in relation to posts about him on social media,â Mr Beamish said.
