Like every other event in a world rocked by COVID-19, this year s United Way of Brevard County fundraising campaign celebration was markedly smaller than usual: a few dozen people in person and 30 people tuning in via Zoom.
But energy and appreciation filled the empty spaces at Thursday s gathering, where officials thanked the hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals who raised millions of dollars that will help Brevard residents meet basic needs and build better lives for themselves and their families.
The awards luncheon, at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place, honored the outstanding achievements and the amazing community members who raised $5,535,000 during a global pandemic, said Rob Rains, United Way of Brevard president.
