Flood warning issued for Surfleet Reservoir  | Updated: 09:36, 29 January 2021 A flood warning has been issued for Surfleet Reservoir. The Flood Information Service warns that flooding is expected at the River Glen during high tide periods. The warning, which was issued at 3.30am today, said: Heavy rain over the last 24 hours has caused river levels to rise on the River Glen. Flooding at Surfleet Reservoir in April 2018.Photo supplied. (11567694) During periods of high tide, the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is very likely to lead to flooding at Surfleet reservoir. Warnings are also in place for the Lower Welland, which includes Deeping St James, Crowland, Spalding and Pinchbeck.

A group of residents, affectionately named The Wombles of Spalding Common, have been spending their free time collecting and clearing rubbish from areas of the town since they set up at the start of the year. The group, which has grown to almost 800 members in the space of two weeks, has so far collected more than 300 bags of rubbish while on litter picks.
