It was Michigan versus Michigan, with both singers having a legit shot of winning the hit reality singing competition, “The Voice.”
16-year old Rio Doyle, from Adrian, is a junior at Tecumseh High School. 34-year old Zania Alaké is a banker from Detroit and a single mother of two young kids. Both were on John Legend’s team and performed against each other in tonight’s third round known as the Knockouts.
Doyle performed “Issues” by Julia Michaels while Alaké sang “If I Were Your Woman” by Gladys Knight.
Plus, Mega Mentor Snoop Dogg helps ring in the round with the show s coaches and competitors.

These Team Nick performers geek out over Mega Mentor Snoop but appreciate the guidance he has to offer them as they head into the Knockouts. When itâs time for the stage, Rachelâs big performance edges out Zae leaving him vulnerable to exiting the competition after Nick picks her as the winner. Thankfully Kelly chooses to steal Zae for her own team, keeping his journey going.
It s on to the next round for two Michigan singers competing on the 20th season of NBC s The Voice.
Romeo teen Rachel Mac and Detroit singer Zania Alaké on Monday beat their competitors in the knockout rounds, meaning they ll compete in this season s live shows next.
Alaké, 34, wowed the judges with her version of Gladys Knight s If I Were Your Woman, beating fellow Michigan singer, Rio Doyle, 16. Three of the four judges gave the single mom a standing ovation. Oh my god, that felt like it was on your record, said judge Kelly Clarkston. .I love that song.
Judge Nick Jonas said Alaké is one to watch.
