One of those was in colinga back in 1983. The quake hit the area on may second 1983. It did 10 million in damage and injured 94 people. The day after the quake ktvus Randy Shandobil visited colinga to see how the city was dealing. Reporter most businesses are damaged beyond repair. The burped out colinga inn kept cool with water. Debris cleared from the streets with bulldozers. A wall simply fell away. A table and chairs inches away from oblivion. Of the water the Water District is releasing stored fresh water into the delta but there is concern that the problems would be long lasting. Laura . In an average year, rain water would be pushing this water back towards the sea. But that is not happening this year. Not at all. Normally, the water would be fresh thanks to rain water now from the snow melt to the north. The Water District is finding levels have surged upwards were seeing sail line at 3 to 5 times what wed normally see this year. The Water District had to release water from its primary Storage Facility but sooner than theyd like. There are benefits to us this year however does not make us immune. In fact, the district looking at a Management Plan may include a call for greater conservation.
