that he was now representing donald trump, the first thing i thought was that there may be a plea negotiations in the works. i don t know that to be the case, but that may not be usual for this attorney. and when you look at the amount of times that these defendants are facing, this is a rico trial. a minimum of five years in prison, that s a significant amount of time. and when you have this many defendants, and clearly they are not all on the same page, because we are seeing motions being filed it would not be unusual for some of these defendants to strike plea deals, including donald trump. mayor keisha it s always a pleasure, thank you so much for spending time with me this afternoon. and coming, up neil on crucial hearings tomorrow, in the georgia case, at jack smith s election difference case. plus, my conversation with new hampshire governor chris sununu. i ask about the trump mugshot,
quickly. a rico trial, with this amount of discovery, and, you know, and also a case where you have pretty significant pretrial motions to be litigated. i think that that s that may be good for press releases, but i don t think anybody in that courtroom thinking is a real date. what would be a reasonable date, do you think? so, setting aside the election entirely, this is a case that, you know, rico has a significant amount of discovery to it. it s a complex case. the trial itself will probably take four months-plus to try, i would expect. the average time of that, you take at least two years before you even get to jury selection. i can t possibly see this going any faster than that. that s one of the problems when you run into bring a rico case as opposed to something more
showing that the criminal organization we were prosecuting was so dangerous that jurors would be at risk if their identities were known. so, i sat for a six-month rico trial. i was sitting across the courtroom from 12 people in the jury box and four alternates, i didn t know their names, i didn t know where they came from, other than the district of columbia. they were bused in and out of the courthouse every day by the u.s. marshals from an undisclosed location. it is a pretty dramatic development. and it takes a good bit for prosecutors to prove to a judge s satisfaction that those steps are necessary to protect the jurors. so, that s a pretty consequential development. peter saying the former president is going to hold a rally in waco, texas, over the weekend. what do you expect that message to be there? you ve seen it time and time again in the last week. since he put out that message saying he thought he was going
