New Kirksville Aquatic Center finally opens

Kirksville has an open aquatic center once again. After a voter-approved sales tax to fund the project and a lengthy design process where the financials were tested, construction began last February. Then a global pandemic began, parts of construction were delayed, materials arrived late, and the grand opening was pushed from Memorial Day weekend to June. Parks and Recreation Director Rodney Sadler thanked city staff members, construction workers and architects on Monday night. And after addressing those people, he thanked the citizens of Kirksville for supporting the project and remaining patient and welcomed them to the new Kirksville Aquatic Center.
