Kirksville Police Chief Scott Williamson, at the city council’s Feb. 12 study session, gave an update on the city’s pursuit of a new police station. The current police department is in a former bank building at the corner of West McPherson and North Marion streets. The building has serious infrastructural issues, including leaks in the roof that cause staff to deploy buckets on the floor to capture rain water, and tarps to cover electronic equipment and desks. Space for personnel and records is at a premium as well.
The annual Adair County SB40 Legislative Coffee Chat was held on Monday, Aug. 28, at the SB40 Community Learning Center. Adair County SB40 Board Chair Don Crosby welcomed the community leadership to the coffee chat. Stating that he has been on the board since the agency’s inception, he has grown passionate about the service needs of individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities living in Northeast Missouri. Crosby expressed his appreciation in the robust attendance and expressed interest in the work and collaborative efforts of SB40 and the many community partners.
