The funds would pay for a superintendent, business manager and other directors to begin before the first budget year takes effect and smooth the transition during the town's separation from Regional School Unit 2.
The Regional School Unit 2 board of directors did not accept the $34.5 million budget from the finance committee after hearing testimony from community and staff members about cuts to positions and programs within the budget.
